Ram has decided to conquer Middle East truck market. Aside their dominance in the full-size and HD segment they have introduced their small-size model Ram 1200. This truck is actually only a rebadged Mitsubishi L200, however with a Ram’s tag on the front fascia it will definitely draw much more attention. New model will be produced in both, single- and double cab versions and it will become a great competition to Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado models.
Exterior and Interior
As already mentioned, new Ram 1200 will be produced with a single or a double-cab. The first option will arrive with 7.4-foot bed and a total length of 206.5 inches, while the double-cab will have smaller 5-foot one but will be slightly longer, 211.4 inches. The front look of this small pickup totally differs from the familiar Ram models. With the robust front bumper and halogen headlights it resembles more to the L200. Interior will also be copied from the Mitsubishi’s model but with Ram symbol on the steering wheel. Higher trim levels will arrive with leather seats, infotainment system and dual-zone climate control. Standard safety features will be borrowed from the Ram 1500.
Ram 1200 – Engine Options
New Ram 1200 will arrive with both engine options, patrol and diesel. Petrol engine will be 2.4-liter 4-cylinder one. It will be able to deliver 130 horsepower. The second option will be 2.5-liter 4-cylinder Turbo Diesel with 126 horsepower but more torque. Both engines will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard while the auto-transmission will be optional. Both rear-wheel drive and AWD will be available. Even though this is a small-size truck its working capacities are amazing. With almost 2,600 pounds of payload rating and 6,600 pounds of towing capacity it can compete against much bigger pickups.
Price of the Ram 1200 will be more than competitive and it shouldn’t go over $25,000 for the base model.
