2018 Ram 3500 – Changes, Cummins, Torque

According to heavy-duty pickup truck manufacturer Ram, there’s no such thing as too much torque or power. This is why 2018 Ram 3500 will be dedicated to bringing out the best in class performance outputs.

The existing Ram 3500 is already a powerful vehicle that should not to be taken for granted. The makers have built this huge pickup truck for taking on some serious heavy duty tasks with technological convenience. All of these brawny spirits will reach to new levels in the upcoming 2018 Ram 3500.

2018 Ram 3500 – Engine Specs

Most pickup truck makers, like Ford and General Motors are on a quest to achieve the highest output figures. Ram is no less in this as the existing Ram 3500 draws 900 lb-ft of torque and 385 HP from the 6.7 liter Cummins® Turbo diesel engine.

As these output figures are certainly going to be improved in 2018 Ram 3500, Ram could even try and touch the so far untouched 1,000 lb-ft torque mark. Doing so will certainly make this HD truck stay above competitors. The 6-speed manual transmission which this engine uses will be improved in efficiency for achieving higher outputs.

According to several new reports, there will be a massive frontal change in the 2018 model. Tipsters have speculated that an entirely new grille along with headlights could be adopted. Doing this will certainly benefit the company as Ram pickup trucks (especially the base models) seriously need to look modern.

A modified bumper will also characterize significant changes to the front fascia. As usual, additional exterior design elements could vary with trims like Limited, Lone Star, Laramie Longhorn and SLT. Similarly, body colors could include Timberline Green, Power Tan, Low Volume Black, Robin Egg Blue and Granite Crystal Metallic.

As Ford pickup trucks offer great luxury in the interior cabin, 2018 Ram 3500 should target the same. What’s likely to change in the interior cabin is the dashboard which will have a new layout of AC vents and glove box.

The 8.4 inch Uconnect touchscreen display on the instrument cluster will be updated along with its controls. The steering wheel is also likely to share some new audio controls. A cargo view camera will be synced with this display for monitoring the truck bed. Other features would include SiriusXM® Satellite Radio®, Wi-Fi Hotspot®, navigation system and voice command support.

  • Electronic Stability Control
  • Advanced Multistage Front Airbags
  • Security Alarm

Price and Release Date

The current Ram 3500 comes with a starting price of $33,245 and this 2018 model is certainly going to cost more. Experts have predicted that the pricing cold start from $35,000. As there’s no official word from Ram, the availability of this new pickup truck is still a mystery. However, there is a chance that the end of 2017 could see the release of the 2018 Ram 3500.
